Bob Gillen [27th Year] - H.S. Hockey Statistician
Welcome Hockey Fans to the new website for North Dakota High School Hockey. As we begin my 27th Season providing the information for N.D. High School Hockey we are excited to transition to Sports Engine for our second season. The past 17-Seasons history are located on this site but you will only see a number of seasons tabs at the top of the page your are on. You must scroll down on the page your on to see the other seasons tabs, but all seasons dating back to 2007-08 are on the site.
Hockey Fans........Website Navigation Update for this season. We have two different types of Tables that were set-up during construction of the site. The Boys and Girls Varsity State Scoring Leaders and Goalie Leaders have Sortable Columns with arrows in the various headings that you can switch from Low to High and High to Low. The 32 Boys and Girls Individual Team Player Stat Pages were not set-up with this feature so they were set from Low Points to High Points and Low Save % to High Save %. Unfortunately we can't have both the Team Pages and the State Leaders Pages the same so we are making this change for the rest of this season.
Team Pages will be set to show Players Listed Highest Points to Lowest Points and Highest Save % to Lowest Save % for the rest of this season since we do not have the Sortable Column Features on the Team Pages.
The State Scoring and Goalie Leaders Pages will now show Lowest Points and Lowest Save % on Page 1 when you get on those pages, but all you need to do to get the Highest Points and Goalie Save % to be listed on your screen is hit the Points Column Heading or the Save % Column Heading and it will show as we will want it for the future.
Fargo North/South picked by Coaches as top Team
The twelve Head Coaches have picked Fargo North/South as the early favorite to repeat as the States top Girls Team. But the defending State Champions from Legacy/Bismarck is right behind them in the poll. The Spruins received 113 points and 6-First Place Votes while Legacy/Bismarck had 104 points and earned 5-First Place Votes. Bismarck Century, Grand Forks and Mandan are in the next tier of the Poll with West Fargo United and Fargo Davies within their own tier. Fargo Davies did receive one First Place Vote in the State Poll. Minot United comes in 8th Place and is some distance from 7th and is ahead of the bottom ranked teams by 21 points. The four teams outside the top eight in the preseason poll are Dickinson, Williston, Jamestown and Devils Lake.
Rachel Hennessy/Samantha Miller take over for the Williston Coyotes Girls as Co-Head Coaches. Haley Barvels moves up to Head Coach after being an Assistant Coach with the Fargo North/South Spruins. Kennedy Blair is the Head Coach for West Fargo United this season. These are the new Head Coaches behind Girls team benches as we open the 2025-26 season on Friday.
Minot earns Six First Place Votes to lead WDA Poll
Minot High has changed its name to Minot United with the community now having two high schools but repeat as the Favorite to win the West Region as they did last year in the Preseason Poll. Minot United earned 6-First Place Votes and finished ahead of second place Bismarck Century by 3 Points. The Patriots had 2-First Place Votes. Bismarck Legacy comes in at third in the poll and also received 2-First Place Votes and 67-Points. Mandan and Jamestown finish 4th and 5th with 55 and 50 points respectively. Bottineau-Rugby and Bismarck High earned 39 and 32 points in the poll while Dickinson, Williston and Hazen-Beulah round out the poll.
Chad Miller moves into the Head Coach Position out in Dickinson who also are starting this season with a new School Mascot. Dickinson is now the Mavericks! Brad Federenko takes over the Coyotes out in Williston. The other eight teams Head Coaches are the same from last seasaon.
G.F. Central heavy Favorite in East Region Poll
Grand Forks Central has the respect of the East Region Coaches as coaches cannot vote for their own team in the Poll. The Knights earned 9 of 10 First Place Votes. Grand Forks Red River earned the other first place vote in the Poll. These two teams lead the third place team Fargo Davies by 26 and 17 points respectively over Davies. The Eagles, Fargo North and the West Fargo Packers come in 3rd, 4th and 5th with 46-44-42 poll points. West Fargo Sheyenne earns the 6th place slot in the poll with Devils Lake and Fargo Shanley separated by four poll points in 7th and 8th places. The bottom two are Grafton/Park River and MayPort Area. MayPort Area automatically is placed as the 10th ranked team in the poll since they do not play in the East Region during the regular season but come into the East Region Tournament as the #10 Seed.
With Fargo Shanley Boys coming back into the East Region after a long time coop with Fargo South, Mark Olsonawski takes over the Deacons Head Coaching duties for the 2025-26 Season. Fargo South athletes will now play with the Fargo North Spartans. Tyler Klein remains the Head Coach for the Spartans. Parker Metz moves over to the West Fargo Packers Boys Program after a successful tenure as Head Coach with the Fargo North/South Spruins Girls Program. These two new coaches are the only changes behind East Region Team Benches for the 2025-26 Season.
