Hockey Fans.......Couple website updates as we move into December. I have spoken to Sport Engine as well as my colleague that runs Legacy Hockey Website in Minnesota and a few items we will have to wait till after this season to correct. Please be patient the rest of this season and we will work to get the following items below corrected. As you may have noticed a few of these items already and have wondered about them.
The State Scoring Page list the Players by Most Points to Least Points but when you go to the Individual Team Pages it lists players by Points opposite [Lowest Points at the top of the page to highest Points at the bottom of the page].
The State Goalie Page list the Goalies by Highest Save % to Lowest Save % but when you to the Individual Team Pages it lists the players by Save % opposite [Lowest Save % at the top of the page to highest Save % at the bottom of the page].
The State Scoring and Goalie Leaders Pages list the Non-Conference Teams in our State Leaders Pages. Legacy Hockey has the same issue and he told me as our ND Teams play more games these non-North Dakota Players will fall farther and farther down our leaders list but for now they do not have a way to edit them off these pages.
Girls Standings lists State League Standings and Goal Differential only and does not have a column set up for Overall Record and Goals For and Goals Against. For now under the Girls Varsity Tab I have added the Girls Overall Records and Goals For and Goals Against for the Season.
Thanks for your understanding as we work through our first year on Sports Engine and Live Scoring. We will continue to work on items as we see them but some will have to be after the season since we are already running our current year. Thanks Bob

Welcome Hockey Fans to the new website for North Dakota High School Hockey. We had a great seventeen seasons at www.ndhighschoolhockey.com and I want to thank my partner Dan K. for his work in providing that site for me for all those seasons. As we begin my 26th Season providing the information for N.D. High School Hockey we are excited to transition to Sports Engine. With this new platform, we will be able to live score games off Sport Engine and upload stats right after games conclude. We also can provide more features that will be more user friendly for the fans when navigating around the site. The past 17-Seasons history are located on this site but we are still working on getting all that sorted and cleaned up which will be a long process. When you go to the various pages to view past seasons, you will only see a number of seasons tabs at the top of the page your are on. You must scroll down on the page your on to see the other seasons tabs, but all seasons dating back to 2007-08 are on the site. Enjoy the new site and we look forward to another exciting season of Boys and Girls High School Hockey here in North Dakota.
Fargo North/South picked by Coaches as top Team
The twelve Head Coaches have picked Fargo North/South as the early favorite to repeat as the States top Girls Team. The Spruins earned 11 of the 12 First Place Votes as teams cannot vote for themselves to earn the top spot in the poll. The Spruins defeated Bismarck Century in last years State Championship Game 5-1 to cap off a [22-3-0] season. Coach Parker Metz returns a veteran team so a run at another State Championship is well in their grasp. The Coaches picked West Fargo United to finish second. Veteran Coach Pat Johnson's team won the regular season title last year edging the Spruins by one point in the standings but fell in the opening round at the State Tournament. W.F. United then went on the claim the Consolation Championship with a 5-4 Overtime win over Devils Lake. Bismarck Century, who also earned a First Place Vote, along with Grand Forks and Mandan round out the Top Five in this years Pre Season Coaches Poll.
Tony Swearingen and Cal Nass are two new Head Coaches behind girls team benches as we open the 2024-25 season on Friday. Swearingen will take over for Ben Hertz in Mandan while Nass will take over the Williston Coyotes coaching duties which Jeff Clarke held last year.
Minot earns Seven First Place Votes to lead WDA Poll
The Magicians are coming off a third place finish at last years State Tournament in Fargo with a 5-2 win over Fargo South/Shanley. They are looking to get into the State Championship Game this year as Coach Willert and Coach Bennett have a very talented team entering the 2024-25 season. Long Tenured Coach Troy Olson and his Century Patriots earned 3 of the 10 coaches votes to finish in the top spot in the West Region. The Patriots did win the Region last year going [15-1] in league play but finished 6th at the State Tournament after a 2-1 loss to Fargo North. Bismarck Legacy, Mandan and Jamestown round out the Top Five Teams in the West Region Poll.
Jake Stilwell takes over for 20 Year Veteran Matt Stockert in Jamestown while Stephen Dora takes over the Head Coaching duties for the Bismarck High Demons replacing Wes Carr.
G.F. Central edges cross town rival as Favorite in Poll
Grand Forks Central finished second to cross town rival Grand Forks Red River in the regular season as well as in the State Championship Game last year, but the Knights edge the Riders in the Pre-Season Coaches Poll. The Knights earned 7 of the 10 1st Place Votes while Red River picked up the other three 1st Place Votes. According to the poll, it looks like an early two team race by how the East Region Coaches see the Conference shaking out. Red River went [14-1] to take the regular season crown then capped off the season with a 4-2 win over Central in the State Championship Game. Central hopes to turn the table this year as the Knights also earned the State Coaches Poll share with G.F. Red River as the two teams tied with 349 Points but Central earned 11 of the 20 1st Place Votes while Red River took 7 of the 20 1st Place Votes. Minot and Fargo North each picked up a 1st Place Vote as well. The Coaches in the East Region picked the West Fargo Packers to come in Third followed by West Fargo Sheyenne and Fargo North to round out the Top Five Teams in this years East Region Coaches Pre-Season Poll.
All Ten Head Coaches in the East Region are back behind the bench so there are not any new Coaches to announce for the 2024-25 Season.
